Sorry all - on email, it said Featured Artist for CAE #58; fixed in the web version now! What is time.... (It's clearly not something I can keep track of.)
Wait, does that mean we have been wrong about how hair grows until now? I don’t know what to believe anymore. And I also love the first customer complaint, it is so fun to see how old the sentiment of being completely over customer service is.
That’s correct. For decades, it was assumed that hair was pushed outwards by the hair bulb, but this study determined that the hair is actively being pulled out/up by surrounding tissue. The tissues act like a mini hair motor.
Not sure what you mean by not knowing what to believe? As science evolves, a technology along with it, we’re able to understand the workings of the body even better.
I think my fave part of this study is that it’s in part from L’Oréal - they’re (I assume) like, hey how can we make our shampoos better??
Haha I was being dramatic as a joke, sorry! It just seems to be such an intuitive thing that I find it amazing that we are learning more about it now and have to think about it more, but I love that science works like this.

Ah ok! I’ve seen people use that phrase a lot lately for not so great reasons. Thanks for clarifying!
Yes I agree, like a reason for being skeptical regarding science. Not the case here I’m just impressed by how much we still have left to learn!
Thanks for your always-interesting posts!
