interesting you mentioned antlers. just before opening your newsletter saw a report that it's "Velveting" season for Moose and they raise all manner of hell in the natural world itching it off. Probably a few itchy Moose in Ottawa.

Upon further examination, there is apparently a vigorous debate among wildlife types about whether the bulls rub the trees, etc with their antlers to remove the velvet or to mark their territory. Females, cows, don't grow antlers so they're not a part of this behavior as best as I can tell.

As usual, a wealth of extremely varied information presented in a light manner. Pure Jodiism. I'll be travelling to Vietnam in October (my 4rth time!) and I will certainly look up and ensure that I taste the rice paddy herb you mention (I probably have tasted it not knowing what it was). Keep enjoying the Ottawa area (my home town) and stay healthy with reasonable hope for better days ahead.
